Sumoradio is a mashup that combines various radio stations' playlists with Amazon.com. Heard a song on a radio you liked? Sumo knows... jump online and Sumoradio tells you who/what (and what time).
You can also buy tracks you see on SumoRadio: click the iTunes & Amazon links. Or, just save 'em for later by clicking "Add to my mix".
Sumoradio is constantly monitoring radio stations' websites and records changes to their published playlists. New tracks are cross-referenced to artist, album, and cover art info from Amazon.com; links are built to iTunes; a squirrel runs 10 laps on his wheel; the site is updated.
PHP. MySQL. Apache. Cron. jQuery. Amazon Web Services (XML).
Quite a bit of hackery was required to build the iTunes links. Its not as easy as you might think to link directly to "just any" song (dynamically) on iTunes, and their affiliate program only allows you to build one-off static links to specific tracks. So, yeah, that took a bit of time.
The whole 'My Mix' thing is just a cookie packed with track IDs. So it's pretty volatile, but I just don't have the time right now to add the Login/Save dimension. Stay tuned.
Sumoradio logo is based on the "Stomper" typeface.

* We are now historically archiving all the tracks played on all monitored stations. We log about 11,000 tracks every 24 hours, and de-duplicate any repeats using our own internal database. So far, MySQL has only crashed once... Last stats update: Jun 2008.
When time permits I add a city with 5-10 top stations. Cities currently in the queue:
